Happy Time Bowling
Capital City Civitan works to support the mission of Civitan International by focusing on projects that help individuals with disabilities in our community, region, state and country, such as the Happy Time Bowling project!
Happy Time Bowling began in 1967, so this project is over 50 years old! Janelle Martin met with then club president, Bob Osbeck, and suggested Capital City Civitan start a recreational project for handicapped citizens. The members of the club approved, and Happy Time Bowling was launched. Almost all members have been involved with this project, including Woodie Weston, who organized the project for many years and is believed to have given it the current name.
Capital City Civitan continues to fund Happy Time Bowling and has partnered with Triangle Disability & Autism Services (TDAS) to handle the logistics. For more information about bowling, please contact Michelle Foy, TDAS Director of Community Programs, at 919-942-5119 or at [email protected].
